Locally-sourced shrimp headlines our Lenten specials
Louisiana’s luscious shrimp season lasts nearly year-round, but we get really excited about this delectable crustacean during Lent. We use only locally-caught shrimp from Captain Lance Nacio and his Anna Marie Shrimp Company. Captain Lance has developed a national reputation as an advocate for sustainable seafood and a pioneer of on-board freezing. Captain Lance flash-freezes his haul within an hour of netting them, preventing the need for brine or preservatives. This gives Anna Marie’s shrimp an incredible sweet flavor and a plump, firm texture. When we thaw the shrimp out in our kitchen, it’s like they were just caught. That’s why our signature shrimp items and Lenten specials taste unbelievably fresh.
We’re pretty shrimp crazy around here, which means you’ve got lots of Lenten options, including standing menu items and spontaneous weekly specials. Start with our savory, napkin-worthy barbecued shrimp in decadent garlic rosemary butter sauce served over creamy polenta. Get playful with our shrimp corn dogs, a skewered jumbo shrimp battered with Papa Tom’s local cornmeal, deep fried to golden brown and accompanied by a spicy mustard dipping sauce. Or nosh on two different out-of-this-world shrimp pasta dishes: our shrimp Alfredo over fettuccine or our shrimp Sorrento, capellini tossed in one of my favorite sauces of all time, vodka cream sauce, and served with sautéed jumbo shrimp.
Lent is on, and we’re ready. Come join us.
